The Central Autonomic Network and Combat PTSD: Assessment and
Intervention RECORDING
CONTENT:This 1-hour webinar recorded live from North Carolina in the
United States shows how Dr. Carmen Russoniello's method is used to
treat PTSD. Dr. Russoniello, Ph.D. describes how he uses biofeedback
and neurofeedback in his program for Wounded Warrior Marines at Camp
Lejeune. The novel biofeedback intervention involves EEG and heart
rate variability feedback and includes the use of virtual reality
(VR). Dr. Carmen Russoniello is himself a former Marine machine gunner
and decorated Vietnam combat veteran.
STANDARDS: To view class recordings on Mac computers specialized
plugins for the .wmv format are required. These are not provided by
the BFE. The purpose of the recordings is t...

ADHD ASSESSMENT SUITE
Vincent Monastra, Ph.D., Joel Lubar, Ph.D. & Francois Dupont, Ph.D.
The ADHD Assessment software suite was designed by a team of
clinicians, as led by Dr. Vince Monastra and Dr. Joel Lubar, with the
goal to create a fast and simple assessment method for ADHD in adults
and children as young as 5 years old. The design and methodology of
this software suite is based heavily on the hallmark published
study by Monastra, Lubar et al. 1999.
The software consists of age-appropriate assessment scripts, during
which the client performs a reading, listening, drawing and/or
working-memory task. Statistics are monitored throughout the
assessment from a single EEG-Z sensor and the results are arranged in
an excel report. The excel report includes notes and ...

PASSIVE-INFRARED HEMOENCEPHALOGRAPHY (pIR HEG) SUITE
Ernesto Korenman, Ph.D.
HEG biofeedback is an effective and drugless treatment for many
neuropsychological conditions. Passive infrared (pIR) HEG is the
measurement of heat (temperature) of the frontal lobes. As the frontal
lobe works harder, more oxygenated blood is brought to region and the
skin surface temperature increases which is what the pIR HEG
thermogenic sensors detect. Thought Technology's pIR HEG Headgear
sensor is required for the suite`s correct operation. Monitoring of
EEG and physiology (heart rate, respiration, skin conductance,
peripheral temperature, sEMG) data is also possible is the user has
access to those sensors as well. Please note that this is the
Passive-Infrared Hemoencephalography (pIR ...

IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME AND BIOFEEDBACK WEBINAR RECORDING
This 1-hour webinar recording allows listeners to familiarize themselves with the methods used by Richard Gevirtz, Ph.D., in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Topics covered in the presentation are:
• background research on IBS, from a psychophysiological perspective
• a mediational model that includes the latest information on the patho-physiology of IBS, presented with an emphasis on autonomic dysfunction
• treatment protocol for IBS based on heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback, including literature that supports this approach
Richard Gevirtz is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology with Alliant International University in California.
Note: All views expressed in the recording a...

EMOTION & BIOFEEDBACK CLASS RECORDING
CONTENT: Enjoy and benefit from these 4 easy-to-digest lessons
recorded live from Portugal and Michigan in January 2012. These lesson
recordings provide a complete introduction to the use of surface
Electromyography and Skin Conductance, Heart Rate Variability (HRV),
and Electroencephalography (EEG) used to measure emotions. Measures of
facial muscles show the valence (direction) of the emotion (happy
versus sad) and skin conductance shows the strength of the emotion.
This real-time information is used in marketing research and might
also be useful in clinical practice. Lesson 1 shows how a simple small
biofeedback device can be used in the clinic to display the skin
conductance, and surface EMG measures during a session. Clients...
