THE INTEGRATION OF BIOFEEDBACK
INTO BEHAVIORAL PEDIATRICS
WEBINAR RECORDING
The presentation by Dr. Donald Moss focused on the current state of practice and research in pediatric biofeedback. Children suffer many somatic symptoms whose mechanisms transcend simple biomedical models. Relationship problems, psychosocial stress, and school related anxieties trigger or exacerbate many medical symptoms and conditions. Other patients' disorders are biomedical in original, yet produce physiological, cognitive, and affective changes that are amenable to biofeedback intervention. The presentation overviewed the evidence base that is available, and identified specific needs for further research and training on the use of mind-body therapies with children and teens. Two case studies illustrated the potential therapeutic value of biofeedback for children's problems.
